2017 INFINITI QX80

INFINITI recently unveiled its INFINITI QX80 Monograph at the 2017 New York Auto Show. Could the QX80 Monograph represent the future of the QX80? We sure hope so as the QX80 Monograph is the most luxurious and bold SUV from INFINITI yet. The automaker redefined upscale luxury with the QX80 Monograph Concept. The new QX80 Concept has a much bigger presence and more courageous stance. It is higher, slimmer and sharper than its predecessor. Everything about this concept demands attention.

According to the Robb Report, INFINITI designed the Monograph to reflect the desires of its customers who want a powerful full-size SUV. The company’s Japanese design studio worked on the QX80 Monograph Concept SUV.

The name Monograph refers to the exterior design of this full-size SUV. Every bit of the exterior was redesigned for an improved exterior look. The INFINITI QX80 Monograph Concept features a wider and taller grille. The QX distinctive crescent-cut D-pillar was reshaped. This update gives the SUV a more athletic stance. A wrap-around window helps emphasize the bold shape of the re-designed INFINITI XQ80. The grille of the QX80 Monograph was changed to align more with the other newer INFINITI models. It is wider and taller and features a distinctive mesh pattern.

Unique Human Eye headlights, which kind of look like and function similar to the human eye provide intelligent lighting. They help improve night illumination. These also make for a unique lighting signature giving the SUV a more high-tech appearance. The headlights wrap around the edge of the INFINITI QX80 Monograph and lead to thin side-view cameras that take the place of rear-view mirrors. These cameras conveniently retract when not in use. The SUV also has Piano Key LED tail lights, which help create visual depth and enhance the rear appearance of the QX80. The tail lights sharply contrast the large two-tone 24-inch wheels. The outer edges of the wheels overlap the tires. This design makes the wheels appear even larger than they already are. Fender vents help improve airflow and aerodynamics. They also add flare and style to the exterior of the QX80 Monograph. An underbody piece was added to protect the SUV from damage.

INFINITI finished the QX80 Monograph with a Frosted Satin Copper paint color that accentuates the SUV’s sculpted features. An aluminum diffuser in the rear is coupled with oversized, integrated exhaust ports. These features help to make the QX80 Monograph appear lower to the ground. Flush door handles and darkened pillars give the profile a sense of near-perfect fluid motion.

Although the INFINITI QX80 Monograph is just a concept and not in production, INFINITI will likely use this concept design to gauge the public’s reaction to the SUV’s new styling. The QX80 Monograph concept shows how the INFINITI QX80 could evolve if customers embrace the new design.
