INFINITI Backup Collision

The INFINITI QX60 with Backup Collision Intervention

A World’s First Technology

Is it enough that the new INFINITI QX60 is one of the most luxurious and spectacular family SUVs you can buy? Apparently the engineers at INFINITI didn’t think so. That’s why they also made it one of the safest vehicles on the road, adding features like the world’s first Backup Collision Intervention (BCI) system to this already astonishing vehicle. Now drivers in Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Coral Springs, and right here in Coconut Creek can be even better protected in the new INFINITI QX60.

INFINITI has always built some of the safest vehicles in the world, designing technologies that detect and prevent potential hazards, as well as protecting occupants when a collision is unavoidable. The Backup Collision Intervention system goes a step further by automatically engaging the brakes to help avoid a collision when the QX60 is backing up.

How the Backup Collision Intervention System Works

This incredible new safety technology works using sensors mounted into the rear bumper of the vehicle. When the QX60 is in reverse the BCI system detects crossing traffic, including vehicles and other moving objects, as well as stationary objects that are in the vehicle’s path. This could include an oncoming car, a bicycle or pedestrian, even a large object that is below the driver’s line of sight.

If you are backing up and a vehicle or other object is detected, the BCI system responds by first giving the driver a visible and audible alert. If no action is taken, the accelerator will push back and the brakes will automatically engage to stop the vehicle and prevent a collision. It’s just one more way that the QX60 provides the maximum amount of protection for you and your family.

More Safety Features Than Ever Before on the New INFINITI QX60

When INFINITI pioneered the Safety Shield concept, engineers set out to develop a system of detecting and preventing accidents, and also protecting vehicle occupants if one was unavoidable. They did this by creating layers of safety technologies, each with its own role in the Safety Shield system. Here are some of the features that make the QX60 and other INFINITI vehicles some of the safest on the road.

  • Intelligent Cruise Control and Distance Control Assist.  These technologies help to automatically adjust the vehicle’s speed to the flow of traffic and assist in maintaining a safe distance between the QX60 and the vehicle ahead.
  • Blind Spot Warning and Blind Spot Intervention.  This system alerts the driver to a vehicle that has been detected in the blind spot when attempting to change lanes. It will also apply braking force to the opposite side wheels, assisting the driver in returning to the center of the lane.
  • Intelligent Brake Assist.  This system can detect a potential collision and pre-pressurize the brake system to improve response. It will also automatically engage the brakes if there is a risk of collision to reduce speed and mitigate damage.
  • The INFINITI Advanced Airbag System.  This advanced occupant protection system offers airbags mounted in the front seat sides, roof-mounted airbags, rollover supplemental airbags and side curtain airbags. There is also a seatbelt pre-tensioner to reduce occupant movement during a collision.

As you can see, INFINITI takes the safety of their vehicles’ occupants very seriously. That’s why INFINITI cars and SUVs consistently receive top safety scores from the IIHS and NHTSA. Stop in to INFINITI of Coconut Creek and see the new INFINITI QX60 with its Backup Collision Intervention system and all of the other incredible safety features. We think you’ll be thoroughly impressed.
