2016 INFINITI QX80

Crossovers have begun to lean more towards the softer, friendlier side of the equation, providing gentle, soft rides at the loss of performance, including towing and hauling capabilities. This is particularly noticeable in the luxury SUV categories, as many of them are more interested in providing agility and sports performance instead of the power and versatility the SUV was originally designed for. INFINITI, though, is not one of those companies – that’s why the INFINITI QX80 continues to be the luxury beast that can help you haul and tow as much as you need, in style!

Gutsy yet Intelligent Power

Under the hood of the QX80 is a 400-horsepower, 5.6-liter V8 engine that produces 413 lb-ft of torque. This allows the QX80 to tow up to 8,500 pounds easily topping the Lexus LX (7,000 pounds) and Land Rover Range Rover (up to 7,716 pounds). It evens edges out long-time powerhouses in the Toyota Land Cruiser (8,100 pounds maximum) and the Cadillac Escalade (8,300 pounds maximum). It doesn’t do this at the expense of fuel mileage either, beating out both the Lexus LX and the Toyota Land Cruiser in that department, while narrowly trailing the Escalade. Unlike the Lexus and Toyota, the QX80 also offers the choice of two- or four-wheel drive – in those other models, you get only four-wheel drive, need it or not.

Size Equals Space

Some SUVs are a good size, but they don’t seem to do much with the space they take up. Measuring in at 208.3 inches in length and standing 75.8 inches, the INFINITI QX80 looms over its closest competition, longer and taller than all of them. The QX80 makes good use of this by offering more rear legroom (41.0 inches), more third-row legroom (28.8 inches), and more rear headroom (40.0 inches) than the Lexus, Toyota, or Cadillac. It also eclipses them when it comes to luggage volume – there is 16.6 cubic feet with all seats in place and 95.1 cubic feet maximum, both of which lead the pack. The QX80 also offers flexibility in the seating arrangements – where the Lexus and Toyota are both eight-passenger only, the QX80 has the option of seven- or eight-passenger seating. If you’ll never need more than seven seats, you can give your passengers some extra room to stretch!

Luxury with Value in Mind

Luxury and a budget don’t always go hand-in-hand, but the INFINITI QX80 melds them together effortlessly. Inside the QX80 you’ll find standard features such as a 13-speaker Bose Premium Audio system, tri-zone automatic temperature control, the INFINITI Navigation System, and much more. Leather-appointed seating and durable yet attractive surfaces combine luxury with longevity. When you want to upgrade, there is an advanced audio system, along with dual seven-inch color monitors for multimedia video playback, to keep the back seat passengers entertained.

The Around View Monitor with Moving Object Detection and Front and Rear Sonar Systems helps you to detect people and objects around your vehicle, keeping them safe while giving yourself peace of mind. It’s a great feature, particularly in a larger vehicle. Other available innovative safety options include Blind Spot Warning, Forward Emergency Braking and Predictive Forward Collision Warning, and Backup Collision Intervention, all part of the Driver Assistance Package aimed at making your experience as safe as possible. All of this comes in a package that is relatively economic, with a starting MSRP well below its closer competition, even including the Land Cruiser.

Here at INFINITI of Coconut Creek, we realize the QX80 is INFINITI’s luxury beast, and may seem intimidating to some folks. However, once they realize that it is a pleasure to drive, so incredibly versatile, and packed full of technology that will make life easier, plenty of shoppers have made the jump.
