The New INFINITI Q60 Coupe Concept Debuts at the Detroit Auto Show
As the first major auto show of the new year, Detroit gets to host many new vehicle unveiling. One of the most exciting of the offerings at this year’s show was the all-new INFINITI Q60 Coupe which made its debut in front of hundreds of admiring fans. This spectacular new luxury sport coupe is one of the most stunning examples of INFINITI’s reputation for designing some of the most beautiful cars in the world.
With INFINITI’s 2014 change in naming conventions, the old G37 was renamed as the INFINITI Q60. While the nimble handling and powerful performance of this sport coupe received much praise, the design had changed little since it was introduced. Now with this newly redesigned concept, the Q60’s styling seems to have caught up with its sports car reputation. You can definitely see the family resemblance and heritage of this popular luxury coupe in the design features of the stunning new INFINITI Q60.

Impeccable Styling and Design
While the wait for a newly designed Q60 has been long anticipated, the arrival of this exceptional new concept coupe proves that good things are worth waiting for. The subtle details of the artfully contoured body are almost lost at first in its overall decadence. It’s only after you pause to take in the individual curves and angels that you are able to admire what makes it so beautiful.
While INFINITI engineers are well-known for pushing the boundaries of style and grace, this new concept Q60 Coupe seems like the ultimate test of their abilities. With its high waistline and dramatically sloped roof, the Q60 is more graceful than ever. The familiar curved hood is still there, but is more subtly presented. The overall appearance is both more muscular, and more organic in its smoothly flowing lines.
Power, Performance and Handling
Although the Q60 Coupe concept has not reached the production line as yet, the expected powertrain was announced at the unveiling. A direct-injected, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 will be paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission to power this new sport coupe. While this new powerplant is smaller in displacement, its lighter weight is expected to be both more efficient and more powerful. Exact numbers aren’t available yet, but we predict around 400-horsepower will propel the new Q60 when it finally hits production.
The platform of the new INFINITI Q60 is based largely upon the redesigned Q50 sport sedan, with obvious enhancements to its suspension components. An enhanced version of INFINITI’s Direct Adaptive Steering system promises to deliver quicker interpretations of a driver’s input than a mechanical system can. In any case, the handling will undoubtedly be exceptional as well.
